Disconnect Day: A Day of Practice
Another early morning. So when will I get used to this? After a fitful, dreamless sleep the sun rises again at 5am and we are not far behind.Today we head off to Ollantaytambo, a small inca city that has the nickname of the Trekkers City. This is the jumping off point for the inca trail. One last night to acclimate, stock up, sleep in a bed, and take a shower. All our electronics stay here in Cuzco. This is our disconnect.
...
So here on out its back to pen and paper, soon we will be even moving point A to point B without technology, just our own two feet. Needless to say these posts will stop. I ask for positive thoughts and good energy from all my many friends out there. This is an epoch trek we are taking. Following in the footsteps of a native people from centuries long past. Following in the footsteps of emperors, conquerors, engineers and simple folk. We will be literally walking over mountains to a sacred city 100 miles from any major populated area. Up in the Andean mountain cloud forests where the earth meets the sky, the stars shine more brilliantly and where a once bustling city of the Incan royalty called home and eluded the Europeans who came to steal and conquer a dream. Machu Picchu here we come.
